Welcome to my corner of the web! I’m Dr. Reston Bell, a psychologist, Navy officer, educator, and advocate for mental health, with a deep commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening communities. My journey into psychology began with a simple curiosity—why do we think the way we do? Over the years, this curiosity has transformed into a lifelong mission to help people understand their minds, heal, and thrive.
Originally from Northern Virginia, I’ve worn many hats throughout my career. I currently serve as a staff Psychologist with the U.S. Navy, where I provide support for the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP). Beyond my military role, I’ve had the privilege of working as a school psychologist, a forensic court clinician, and a professor of psychology. My diverse experiences in these fields have taught me that mental health is not a one-size-fits-all journey, and I’m here to tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each person I work with.
Education and Expertise
I’ve dedicated my academic career to understanding how psychology intersects with our daily lives. With a Master’s and a Doctorate in Psychology from George Mason University, plus additional studies in clinical psychology and criminology, I’m passionate about uncovering how we can make a real difference in people’s lives. I’m also pursuing my second doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The George Washington University, because I believe there’s always more to learn!
Whether I’m working with clients, teaching future psychologists, or leading community outreach, my goal is to make mental health accessible, understandable, and—most importantly—effective. From managing anxiety to navigating life’s toughest moments, I’m here to provide guidance and support every step of the way.
A Heart for Service
My career isn’t just about credentials or degrees—it’s about people. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with diverse communities in the DC metro area, helping those who often feel overlooked. From volunteering with local nonprofits to leading mental health initiatives in my church, I’m dedicated to ensuring everyone has access to the care they deserve.
Growing up, I was shaped by the kindness of the black men in my community who helped guide me safely to school every day. Their actions inspired my passion for creating safe spaces for men to prioritize their mental health, and today, I’m driven by that same sense of service. I’ve partnered with organizations like Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., leading impactful discussions on emotional intelligence, resilience, and mental wellness.
Let’s Build a Healthier Tomorrow
In a world that’s constantly moving, taking care of your mental health can sometimes feel like an afterthought. But it doesn’t have to be that way. My mission is to make mental health approachable, relatable, and something we can all prioritize—no matter where we are in life.
So, whether you’re here to learn, to grow, or just to find some mental peace, I’m excited to help you along your journey. Let’s work together to build a stronger, healthier tomorrow—for you, your family, and your community.
